I think your video is fab, the use of sign lauguage was a good metaphor for how the earth can’t talk to us and is only giving us warnings.

I like this ….sign language is very theatrical and poignant
And actually for me it is not just about the miscommunication between the earth and its people. Or the earth being ignored.
And i think environmentalists are too exclusive sometimes like the rich countries speaking and condescending to the less wealthy ones and i have never seen a video that considered that people with different abilities might be watching have an opinion and that it might be worthwhile listening to them instead and that we are not listening and if you keep saying the same message again and again and no one listens well you are obviously not saying it in a way they comprehend or with their perspective and it says not everyone can communicate in the same way and what you perceive as silence ( from those who dont have the money to ask or put their views accross) could actually be the biggest plea of all!
Communication is key ! We need to listen to those who disagree with us as much as talk to them .Ramming the same message again and again is not working.
If we want them to take our issues seriously and listen well then we need to listen to theirs.
What i take from it is everyone on this issue on both sides needs to work on all their communication skills.
The girl in the video needs people to find a new way of communicating and interacting with her even though it may not be what they are used to.
Environmentalists and businesses and politicians and earth and those caught in the middle all have their own languages and cultures and agendas we dont get anywhere by battering each other on the head because we dont agree …..maybe we gotta listen more all of us.
Incidentally i realise i just went on a really long rant whilst urging other people to listen !

In a competition, there are always finalists and those who don’t get through. The problem we had was that there were so many fantastic videos to choose from that there was inevitably going to be great films that didn’t make it, especially as we had to meet a criteria for each category.
However, we’ve decided to rectify this a little and reward 5 more great videos. These have been added to the shortlist and will also guaranteed receive a subscription to Shooting People. They will be on our homepage soon.
