Wet Feet

The film is about floods and people living in flooded houses and their helpless daily struggle to drive out the water. The scarcity of means before the dimension of the disaster make the conditions of these people even more pathetic. The areas the most hit by these floods are the suburbs of Dakar, the capital city where live very poor people who are waging a lost battle against these floods. The consequence of climate change illustrated in this film is something that most Senegalese people had never witnessed before. It is so sad to see millions of families leaving their houses and many of their belongings behind, in search for other shelters. It is the case of my grandparents who now live in our home. Unfortunately, there are so many families that have nowhere to go and others living in classrooms. Few other people lucky enough to benefit from the Government’s ORSEC plan, that provides help for sinistered people.
To cut it short, I think that the government’s help to solve the problem is still not efficient because many families still live in the waters and it is a big danger. Everybody should work hard to see how we can find better solutions when this phenomenon occurs one more time in the future.

In a competition, there are always finalists and those who don’t get through. The problem we had was that there were so many fantastic videos to choose from that there was inevitably going to be great films that didn’t make it, especially as we had to meet a criteria for each category.

However, we’ve decided to rectify this a little and reward 5 more great videos. These have been added to the shortlist and will also guaranteed receive a subscription to Shooting People. They will be on our homepage soon.

    The five videos are:

Tank head, Nature finds a way, Paving the planet, Earth clock, Restore the earth

WHAT WAFFLE FROM THE JUDGES THESE FILMS SHOULD BE REMOVED!

    THIS COMPETITION HAS BEEN CORRUPTED!

  19. Divya Bhatt Says:

Hope this film just does not remain a film. These people really need help. Hope there is a way to get people to support them..
